The idea for this St. Patrick’s Day wreath crochet pattern was actually sparked back in October when a very creative reader suggested that my Halloween cauldron pattern would also make a great pot of gold for Saint Patrick’s Day. Yes! So that is exactly what I did … and of course where there is a pot of gold, there is a rainbow …

Fasten off, weave in ends. Attach crochet cover to wreath in the same way as we did for the American Flag Wreath Crochet Pattern.
Pot of Gold Crochet Pattern
To make the pot for the gold, follow the same pattern as used for the Halloween cauldron pattern here.
Gold Coins Pattern
Using a C hook and the sparkly sport weight yarn, make a magic ring (as an alternative to the magic ring, you can ch 4 and join with a slip stitch in furthest chain from hook to form a ring).
Round 1: Ch 1 (does not count as st here and throughout), work 6 sc in ring, join — 6 sts.
Round 2: Ch 1, work 2 sc in same st as join and in each st around, join — 12 sts.
Fasten off, weave in ends.
Assembling
Use a piece of crumpled tissue paper to fill in the bottom part of the pot. Then cover the top with coins. Use a dab of hot glue to keep the coins in place. Sew or glue the pot to the center of your wreath. If desired glue a few coins around the bottom of the pot as well. You can even add a shamrock or two if you want. You can find a free clover pattern here.
Enjoy!

a before i go any further, when attaching to the wreath, do you fold your flat piece (let me say this as i would to my 1 year old) do you fold it hot dog bun or hamburger bun? i’ve been trying to see how I would get it to attach and every time i wrap it around the wreath it either doesn’t match up or i have tons of extra
