Hello my friends! I hope you have enjoyed the V-Stitch Ripple Afghan Pattern I shared recently. As promised, today I am sharing the round granny crochet pillow pattern that I made to go along with it. These patterns are a great way to play with colors or even use up some yarn from your stash!
Round Granny Crochet Pillow Pattern
Here’s what you need:
- 5 coordinating colors of bulky weight yarn, approx. 1 skein (136 yd) each (shown here in Knit Picks Brava Bulky Yarn colors Peacock, Cornflower, Dove Heather, Cobblestone Heather, and Sky)
- US K-10.5 / 6.5 mm crochet hook
- 14 in. (36 cm) round pillow insert (
- tapestry needle, scissors

Granny Circles
(Make 2)
With CA, make a magic ring (as an alternative to the magic ring, you can ch 4 and join with a slip stitch in furthest chain from hook to form a ring).
Round 1: Ch 3 (counts as dc here and throughout), work 1 dc in ring, ch 2, *2 dc in ring, ch 2, rep from * 4 more times, join, drop CA — 12 dc.
Round 2: Join CB in any ch-sp, ch 3, work [1 dc, ch 2, 2 dc] in same ch-sp, ch 2, *[2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc] in next ch-sp, ch 2, rep from *4 more times, join, drop CB — 24 dc.
Round 3: Join CC in any ch-sp, ch 3, work 1 dc in same ch-sp, ch 2, *2 dc in next ch-sp, ch 2, rep from * 10 more times, join, drop CC — 24 dc.
Round 4: Join CD in any ch-sp, ch 3, work [1 dc, ch 2, 2 dc] in same ch-sp, ch 2, *[2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc] in next ch-sp, ch 2, rep from *10 more times, join, drop CD — 48 dc.
Round 5: Join CE in any ch-sp, ch 3, work 1 dc in same ch-sp, ch 2, *2 dc in next ch-sp, ch 2, rep from * 22 more times, join, drop CE — 48 dc.
Round 6: Join CA in any ch-sp, ch 3, work 1 dc in same ch-sp, ch 2, *2 dc in next ch-sp, ch 2, rep from * 22 more times, join, drop CA — 48 dc.
Round 7: Join CB in any ch-sp, ch 3, work [1 dc, ch 2, 2 dc] in same ch-sp, ch 2, *[2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc] in next ch-sp, ch 2, rep from *22 more times, join, drop CB — 96 dc.
Round 8: Join CC in any ch-sp, ch 3, work 1 dc in same ch-sp, ch 2, *2 dc in next ch-sp, ch 2, rep from * 46 more times, join, drop CC — 96 dc.
Finishing
With wrong sides facing, hold two granny circles together with ch-sps lined up.
Round 1: Join CD in any ch-sp being sure to work through both circles, ch 3, work 1 dc in same ch-sp, continuing to work through both circles, work *2 dc in next ch-sp, rep from * until you are about half way around, insert pillow between between circles and continue working from * around to encase pillow, join — 96 dc.
Round 2: Ch 1, loosely work 1 sc in same dc as join and each dc around, join — 96 dc.
Fasten off, weave in ends.
