Here is what you will need:
- 1 skein worsted-weight yarn, approx. 290 yd (shown here in Lion Brand Vanna’s Choice Yarn in the Linen colorway)
- US H-8 / 5 mm crochet hook
- yarn needle and scissors for finishing

Notes:
As with all handmade infant items, the bunting and hat should be checked regularly for loose ends and unraveling stitches that may pose harm to a baby. Babies should not be left unattended while wearing the crochet baby bunting.
Size: Newborn to 3 months. Finished baby bunting is approx. 15½ in. long, 9 in. wide, and 18 in. circumference. Hat is approx. 12 in. circumference, 5 in. from crown to brim.
Gauge: 7 clusters and 7 ½ rows = 4 in.
Special Stitches:
Two double crochet cluster (2dc-cl): Yarn over, insert hook into specified stitch, yarn over and pull up loop, yarn over and pull through 2 loops on hook, repeat 1 more time (3 loops will be on hook), yarn over and pull through all 3 loops on hook.
Joining cluster (join-cl): Yarn over, insert hook into specified stitch, yarn over and pull up loop, yarn over and pull through 2 loops on hook, insert hook into beginning chain-4 space, pull up a loop and pull through all loops on hook.
Crochet Baby Bunting Pattern
Make a magic ring (as an alternative to the magic ring, you can ch 4 and join with a slip stitch in furthest chain from hook to form a ring).
Round 1: Ch 4 (does not count as st), *2dc-cl, ch 1, rep from * 4 more times, join-cl, pull tail of yarn to close up ring — 6 clusters.
Round 2: Ch 4 (does not count as st), *[2dc-cl, ch 1, 2dc-cl, ch 1] in next ch-sp, rep from * 4 more times, [2dc-cl, ch 1, join-cl], in last ch-sp — 12 clusters.
Round 3: Ch 4 (does not count as st), *[2dc-cl, ch 1, 2dc-cl, ch 1] in next ch-sp, 2dc-cl in next ch-sp, ch 1, rep from * 4 more times, [2dc-cl, ch 1, 2dc-cl, ch 1] in next ch-sp, join-cl in last ch-sp — 18 clusters.
Round 4: Ch 4 (does not count as st), *[2dc-cl, ch 1, 2dc-cl, ch 1] in next ch-sp, [2dc-cl, ch 1] in each of the next 2 ch-sp, rep from * 4 more times, [2dc-cl, ch 1, 2dc-cl, ch 1] in next ch-sp, 2dc-cl in next ch-sp, ch 1, join-cl in last ch-sp — 24 clusters.

Baby Hat Pattern
Make a magic ring.
Round 1: Ch 4 (does not count as st), *2dc-cl, ch 1, rep from * 4 more times, join-cl, pull tail of yarn to close up ring — 6 clusters.
Round 2: Ch 4 (does not count as st), *[2dc-cl, ch 1, 2dc-cl, ch 1] in next ch-sp, rep from * 4 more times, [2dc-cl, ch 1, join-cl], in last ch-sp — 12 clusters.
Round 3: Ch 4 (does not count as st), *[2dc-cl, ch 1, 2dc-cl, ch 1] in next ch-sp, 2dc-cl in next ch-sp, ch 1, rep from * 4 more times, [2dc-cl, ch 1, 2dc-cl, ch 1] in next ch-sp, join-cl in last ch-sp — 18 clusters.

Optional Flower Embellishment
With an accent color, ch 88.
Round 1: Work 2 sc in 2nd ch from hook and each of the next 2 ch, 2 hdc in each of the next 2 ch, *2 hdc in next, 2 dc in next, rep from * 6 more times; **2 dc in next, 2 tr in next, rep from ** to end — 174 sts.
Fasten off and weave in ends.
The flower will automatically curl to shape. Using a tapestry needle sew bottom of flower together to secure. Place flower in desired location on hat or bunting and sew in place. Weave in ends.
