I don’t stop crocheting just because the weather gets warmer … I just think of cooler projects to crochet! I aim for lightweight, portable, and of course bright sunshine-y colors. I had a fun lime green cotton yarn begging to be used so I made up some chunky doilies to place around the house. And of course I wanted to share my crochet doily pattern with you 🙂
Chunky Crochet Doily Pattern
Here’s what you will need:
- worsted weight yarn … I used cotton here
- H hook
- tapestry needle and scissors

Special Stitch: Picot — chain 3, work 1 single crochet in first chain made.
Large Crochet Doily
Make a magic ring.
Round 1: Ch 3 (counts as dc), work 15 dc into ring, join — 16 dc.
Round 2: Ch 3 (counts as dc), work 1 dc in next same st as join, ch 3, skip next st, *work 2 dc in next st, ch 3, skip next st, rep from * around, join — 16 dc and 8 ch sps.
Round 3: Ch 3 (counts as dc), work 1 dc in next st, work 4 dc in next ch-sp, *work 1 dc in each of the next 2 sts, work 4 dc in next ch-sp, rep from * around, join — 48 dc.
Round 4: Ch 3 (counts as dc), work 1 dc in same st as join, work 2 dc in next st, ch 5, skip next 4 sts, *work 2 dc in each of the next 2 sts, ch 5, skip next 4 sts, rep from * around, join — 32 dc and 8 ch sps.
Round 5: Sl st in next st, 1 sc in next st, work [1 hdc, 2 dc, picot, 2 dc, 1 hdc] in next ch sp, *work 1 sc in next st, Sl st in next 2 sts, 1 sc in next st, work [1 hdc, 2 dc, picot, 2 dc, 1 hdc] in next ch sp, rep from * around, work 1 sc in next st, Sl st in next st to join — 88 sts.
Fasten off, weave in ends.
Small Crochet Doily
Make a magic ring.
Round 1: Ch 2 (counts as hdc), work 11 hdc into ring, join — 12 hdc.
Round 2: Ch 2 (counts as hdc), work 1 hdc in same st as join, ch 3, skip next st, *work 2 hdc in next st, ch 3, skip next st, rep from * around, join — 12 hdc and 6 ch sps.
Round 3: Ch 2 (counts as hdc), work 1 hdc in next st, work 4 hdc in next ch-sp, *work 1 hdc in each of the next 2 sts, work 4 hdc in next ch-sp, rep from * around, join — 36 hdc.
Round 4: Ch 2 (counts as hdc), work 1 hdc in same st as join, work 2 hdc in next st, ch 5, skip next 4 sts, *work 2 hdc in each of the next 2 sts, ch 5, skip next 4 sts, rep from * around, join — 24 hdc and 6 ch sps.
