This repetitive two-row pattern creates a single straight cable that runs the length of the dishcloth and gives a ribbed effect similar to what you see in knitting.

Although the yarn I used (Knit Picks Dishie) is considered a worsted weight yarn, I find it to run a little thinner than other yarns in the same weight category. I liked the result a G-6 / 4.0 mm crochet hook for this yarn. If using a heavier yarn, adjust hook size.
Finished dishcloth measures approximately 8 in. x 8 in.
Gauge: 14 sc = 4 in.

No worries … simply speaking, a post stitch is a crochet stitch that is worked around the post of a stitch from a previous row, as opposed to working into the top of the stitch as one usually does. In this pattern we are working front post double crochets, which means you will be completing a double crochet around the post of another stitch. I have provided what that means step-by-step here …

Front Post Double Crochet (FPdc): Yarn over and insert hook from the front around the back and to the front again, working around the post of the stitch two rows below. Complete as a regular double crochet.
