Over the past 15 years, knitting and crocheting have gained widespread recognition among the younger crowd, particularly teenagers and twenty-somethings! According to Huffington Post, this surge in trendiness is due to the hobbies’ seamless blend of fashion and functionality. From iPhone cases and laptop sleeves to stylish scarves and quirky knee socks, the creative possibilities are extensive.
In fact, a recent survey conducted by Coupon Box and 10x Digital found that — of the 3,500 polled Americans, ages 18-65 — 16.4% ranked knitting and crocheting as the activities they’re most inclined to learn this year. The survey also indicated that a significant portion of this interest came from 18-34 year olds.
Not to mention, with both skilled artists and novice crafters catching onto the DIY movement, knitting and crocheting will continue reaching a larger, more diverse audience in 2016. The infographic below illustrates how these popular pastimes stacked up against the competition …
