How do i do a thumb hole in the v stitch fingerless gloves pattern?
Julia says
Chain 26? It’s not big enough for a wrist. Am I missing something? Im using a thin wool….. I’m confused help, how do I make it for bigger hands.
Kara says
Hi Julia 🙂 Are you using a DK weight yarn and a size H hook? If so, you can try to go up a yarn and hook size or try crocheting your chain a little looser. Hope that helps!

I just used your lovely design to make a fingerless glove. I altered it a bit to include a thumb hole and used Caron Simply Soft Paints in Oceana. The result is beautiful. I’ll be donating a set of gloves and the matching cowl to a fellow single mama for Christmas. My young daughters picked the yarn out. I’m thankful to those of you who create such great patterns and share them with the world so those like me on a budget can still manage to make beautiful things for friends and family.

This is such a beautiful pattern. I just love it! Thank you for sharing it. I’m starting it now and was wondering if there is a gauge for it. I didn’t notice one but may have missed it.
Kara says
Hi Lisa 🙂 Nope, you didn’t miss it. I had it listed under the cowl pattern but I should have included it here as well. The gauge is 12 sc and 12 rows = 4 inches.
Chrissey says
Thank you for this pattern, I am excited to try it out and see how this turns out.
Linda says
These are so pretty. I’ve been looking at patterns for fingerless gloves & these seem even better because you can just slide them up or down. Now I’m going to go look at the scarf pattern. Thanks!
Audrey Lindsey says
These were so easy to make and worked up super fast . I used Redheart unforgettable yarn. Will use my left over yarn to make the cowl.
Debra says
Hi, first thanks for the patterns! They are wonderful!
However, I dont know why I have such a mental block when a pattern says to repeat a certain number of rows a certain number of times. I am on row ten and it seems to be confusing me yet again! Arrrggg! Is there an easier way to explain it other than the easy way you have explained it? 🙂
I think it’s the part that says to repeat all those rows three times that has me stumped. In my head if I repeat all those rows it seems like I would have some really long wrist warmers!
Btw,I’m working on the wrist warmers, I forgot to mention that.
Thank you for any help you can provide.
Debra
Kara says
Hi Debra 🙂 Yes, that throws me off in patterns too! What I find helpful is making little tally marks next to the row to indicate which repeat I’m on until I complete the number of repeats indicated in the pattern. Hope that helps!
Sharon says
Does your thumb go through a V stitch?
Kara says
Hi Sharon 🙂 Are you asking if the space in the V stitch is large enough to fit your thumb? If so, yes,I could get mine through
Lisa Graham says
Love your V-Stitch patterns! I made your V-Stitch Cowl to Wrap for a friend for Christmas and she loved it! Was going to make her the Wristwarmers also but she preferred a headband ear warmer… so I improvised your Wristwarmer pattern and it came out great, too.
Bev says
I am definitely making this and the matching cowl. Thank you so much for such a lovely pattern.
Kara says
My pleasure, Bev! So glad you like them 🙂
Amy says
Kara, these are beautiful! Any idea how much yarn you used? I have a small hank (no length noted, just 45g) of really special yarn that I thought might be great for these wristwarmers but have no clue if my little hank (’tis tiny) will cut it.
Thanks for sharing your pattern!!!
Amy
Kathryn says
Oh and I plan on making the cowl to match! Thanks for sharing the pattern with us!
Kara says
Hope you like it!
Kathryn says
Just made one of the wrist warmers and the pattern was so easy and looks great. I used a size I/9 hook and didn’t do one of the repeats. I only have 3 sets of V stitches since I used a larger hook. I also put in a thumb hole and finished them off with a row of crab stitch. I’m making the set for a Christmas present and I’m hoping the recipient will be very surprised.
Kara says
Sounds pretty!
Lori says
This pattern looks fabulous! I do not have the superfine Alpaca yarn though, would you happen to have an idea for a substitute yarn option??
Kara says
Any DK weight yarn should work.
Lori Bennett Kramer says
Yay! Almost done with the cowl, now I can make the wristwarmers, too! Thanks so much for the lovely free patterns! Making them for my sister’s birthday. 🙂

My pleasure! So glad you like them 🙂
